Bagizagan Winery, Zarafshan valley

Five generations of winemakers 25 km from Samarkand, in the Taylyak district. Bagizagan now also runs a boutique hotel with a tasting cellar near Samarkand's railway station.

History

Grapes have been grown here in the Zarafshan river valley by five generations of one family. The winery still produces wine and cognac in the same region today.

What a visit includes

A cellar tour past rows of barrels and old vintages, including a room where some wines still ferment underground in Georgian-style qvevri amphoras.

Tastings typically cover 5 wines — 4 dry and 1 dessert — with a cheese plate and seasonal fruit.

Bagizagan Travel exclusives

Cellar tasting — included free on any route through Samarkand.

Dinner among the vineyards — a separate programme for groups.

A wine-blending masterclass — guests leave with their own bottle and label.

A photoshoot with a vintage 1970s "Java" motorbike — part of the estate's character.

Adding it to an itinerary

The winery is already part of our Samarkand routes, and can be added as an exclusive to any custom tour built in the constructor.
